Prices/Hours

Our hours are:
Monday to Friday 7.30am to 5.30pm
Closed for Statutory holidays and two weeks at Christmas
No charge

Fees are $5.50 per hour.

Three and Four year olds receive up to 20 hours ECE.

(Maximum of 6 hours per day.)

NB: There are no absence concessions for children on 20 hours ECE.

There are subsidies available from WINZ

The co-ordinators can supply you the

appropriate forms and further information.

When your child is absent for sickness or without notice. Full fees are charged.
When you give one weeks notice of an impending absence. A holding fee of 50% is charged.

Ratios

Educators can care for up to 4 children under 6 years of age at any one time. Only 2 of this number of children can be under the age of 2.

To enrol your child please phone Mount Plunket Preschool on 07 575 5471 and talk with a coordinator or manager.

Once we have established what your care requirements are we will then begin placing your child in care with one of our trusted educators.

The first step will be to meet with a coordinator in the educators home giving you the opportunity to discuss your childs care needs.

After this initial visit your coordinator will be back in touch with you to answer any further questions you may have and to fromalise a booking with an educator.

Homebased Care offers children the following

How are Educators Chosen?

Educators apply to join our service and the following safety and suitability checks are completed:

Police and reference checks.
An initial Home Safety and Suitability check. This is rechecked on an annual basis
All children are visited on a regular basis on scheduled and unscheduled visits.

Communication

Communication with Parents

Mount Plunket Homebased Care aims to work in partnership with parents. Our introduction process helps families get to how our homebased service operates.

You are welcome to visit your child at any time they are in care with their educator.

If your child has any “special need” in any area discuss this with a coordinator or educator.

All matters will be treated confidentially.

Our latest Education Review Office report is available for scrutiny on request from the centre or may be read on line at www.ero.govt.nz

Because our lives are all different we have a variety of ways to keep in touch with you.

Mount Plunket Preschool web site allows parents to keep up to date with Homebased information.
Portfolio Books.
Programme planning and information relevant to the care arrangement is recorded in your child's portfolio.
Coordinators will also contact you on a regular basis about the care arrangement.
Nappy changes and sleep times are recorded and are available for parents to view.
Please feel free to approach a Coordinator or the Manager anytime regarding concerns over your child.
An Information booklet is given out at enrolment.
Monthly newsletters.
Regular get togethers and workshops are arranged or educators. Parents are welcome to attend these.

Management

The governance of the centre is undertaken by the Mt Maunganui Punket Society-Governance committee.

Meetings are held monthly. If you have any interest in being involved in the centre at this level please see the coordinators for details.

An AGM is held annually in November and all are welcome to attend. Annual audited financial accounts will be presented for public scrutiny, showing how MOE funding and parent fees are spent.

What To Bring

Every day your child attends you need to supply:

Enough food and drink to last the day.
Nappies, wet wipes.
Spare clothes including sun hats, jackets for winter, shoes, slippers.
An approved car seat.
Special blankets or toys that may assist your child to settle.

Health

Please keep your child home when they are unwell.

If your child becomes sick at the educators home, you will be contacted and expected to pick them up immediately.

Children who have been vomiting, need to stay away for 24 hours and 48 hours after diarrhoea has ceased.

If your child is on medication, please fill out the

appropriate form that your educator holds.

We would appreciate notification of any infectious disease as soon as possible.

Please ensure, in case of an emergency an updated contact number is available.

In the summer months, please supply sun block and ensure your child has a sun hat for outdoor play.
